Who Can Study AMIE ?

Is your management reluctant to give you a promotion in spite of your industry experience?
Are you seriously thinking of getting government or private sector job as an engineer?
Need an alternative to B.Tech degree without entrance and with the freedom of postal class?
Then AMIE is for you.
Those who wish an admission in AMIE must have any one of the following qualifications.

1. A recognized 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or its equivalent, in any branch of engineering.
No marks restriction
2. +2/HSC/PDC with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with minimum 45% marks.
If you possess any qualification equivalent to the above, still then you are eligible to apply for AMIE.
Those who pursue AMIE after Diploma course are usually known as Diploma Stream Students, and others Non-Diploma Stream Students.

As per public notification by AICTE, the qualifications acquired through distance education mode are recognised for the purpose of employment to post and services under the Central Government, provided these have been approved by Distance Education Council, and wherever necessary, by AICTE, New Delhi. The technical education programmes, which fall under the purview of AICTE, are in the fields of engineering, technology including MCA, Architecture, Town Planning, Management etc. As per the policy of the AICTE, the qualifications acquired under distance education mode at diploma, B.E./B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech. in the fields of engineering etc. are not recognised. This policy has also been accepted by the Council of the Institution.

Those who have done Diploma awarded by ICE (The Institution of Civil Engineers) can apply for AMIE in diploma stream, provided they have passed Part 1 and Part 2. Those who passed only part 2 are not eligible for applying in diploma stream.

Experience certificate is not required for getting admission in AMIE

B.Tech/B.E holders are also eligible for AMIE. They will get complete exemption in Section A subjects. The can try for AMIE in the same or different branch of engineering. B.Tech or B.E holders must first apply for AM membership.

Final pass certificate is mandatory for admission. Hence students whose result of qualifying exam is not published cannot apply.Both AMIE and B.Tech are of same value. The difference is only in the mode of study. While B.Tech

Senior Secondary School Certificate of National Institute of Open Schooling New Delhi is considered equivalent to Plus two.Holders of such certificate can get admission in AMIE in the Non-Diploma stream

Diplomas awarded by Karnataka State Open University is not a sufficient qualification for AMIE admission.

Diploma and degree awarded by IME (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) Mumbai is not considered as a sufficient qualification for AMIE admission. If the student has done Plus two (PCM) he can apply for admission in non-diploma stream.

ITI or ITC passed candidates cannot do AMIE. But if they have plus two (PCM) with 45% marks can apply.

3 years Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (after +2 P, C, M) is eligible for AMIE.

Diploma Holders if IETE Delhi are eligible for doing AMIE. They can get admission in Diploma stream.

CIPETians can apply for AMIE admission in Diploma stream

Diploma in Computer Engg, Electronics, Mechatronics Engg, Tool and Die Making are recognised.

Diploma in Civil Engg, Electrical Engg, Mechanical Engg and Advanced Diploma in construction Management are recognised.

Vocational Higher Secondary Course from Directorate of Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Kerala and Board of Higher Secondary Examinations, Tamil Nadu are recognised..

4 years Diploma course in Distance learning mode of Technical Examination Board Gujarat is recognised. Holders of such diploma can apply for ST membership..

Holders of foreign degrees/Diploma may also apply for admission to approriate class of memebrship. Their case will be conisdered on individual merit after ascertaining the standard of the qualifications from the national society of engineers of the countrie concerned.
